Update
Since my 7th birthday surprise, I've had many others, thank GOD! But life as I knew it changed for the better. My sister is no longer that tiny little baby that laid in my mother's arm the first night home from the hospital. I've have laid up in my bed multiple time since that night of that wonderful surprise wondering whats next. I mean, I didn't have a book on what to expect. Neither did my parents ever say well your sister is special needs. With age I got informed and educated myself. Sometimes we are looking to people to do for us what we can do for ourselves. My amazing birthday surprise has taught me so much. Today, she is a beautiful 16 year old in her junior year of high school. She is smart, funny, kind, stubborn at times but who isn't and much more:-). I look back on the past 16 years and say what an amazing journey. GOD has used her to shape me into the woman, daughter, sister, aunt and teacher that I am today. I believe that I am passionate for the people that I love as well as teaching in general because of my amazing sister. She has broaden my perspective and gave me a special kind of love for the special needs community as a whole. I've enjoyed the journey thus far can't wait to see what the next 16 years has in-store for us and the 16 years after that. Stay tuned!!!
